EDWARDIAN HOUSE REMODELING
We were commissioned to transform this Edwardian house into a spacious contemporary family home. The challenge was “to modernise” without loosing its original character. The central component of this project was to design a large open plan entertainment space – kitchen, lounge and dining, which would connect with the garden. To achieve this a contemporary space was added to the rear and side. The rest of the house was remodelled to create a large modern family home.
Like many older homes, the kitchen felt secondary with poor connections to the garden. It was part of the brief to include the new kitchen within the open plan arrangement in order to view and connect the garden with the interior. By bringing the outside in, made the whole new open plan room feel larger than it is.
On the first floor a master bedroom with en-suite facilities was cleverly added to the existing family bathroom, including his and her walk in wardrobes, which became the headboard. An innovative loft conversion was added to the difficult hipped roofs to the property.
